Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 championships have been won on hard courts

A resurgent Medvedev won his first title for nearly 30 months with success over opponent Moutet in the competition championship match.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid year, managing just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

The player's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in particular - resulted in him exiting of the top ten and eventually separating with long-term coach Cervara.

Presently training with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily advanced in the past month - peaking in a closely contested competitive victory over opponent Moutet.

It is his maiden title following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard surface after March of 2023.

The win also indicates Medvedev has secured 21 championships at 21 distinct competitions.

"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my children together, so to win a title is especially meaningful," said world number 14 the champion.

"This title is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his past six finals, featuring in that event previously this season.

His defensive play style and frequent outbursts on the playing surface had led some to wonder if his skill to play at the elite level was concluded.

But the player has altered his approach in the past month, striving to come to the net and perform aggressively, reinforced by an better serving game.

Medvedev came back from a break down in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, securing four of the last five points to gain the advantage.

The competitors traded break points in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his first tour victory, seized the initiative to push for a third set.

Moutet defended four early-game opportunities in a competitive final set before the champion won the break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Fittingly, Medvedev secured victory with a point at the net, with Moutet failing to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
